Karim Martusewicz is an exceptionally talented musician and composer, known as the bassist for the band Voo Voo and as the founder of the international musical collectives Karimski Club and Karimski Orchestra.
After graduating from the F. Chopin Secondary School of Music in Warsaw, he studied at the prestigious University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria, where he earned his degree under the guidance of the renowned musician Professor Wayne Darling in the jazz double bass class.
Karim is the initiator and one of the founders of Poland’s first Jazz Department at the high school level, whose first Artistic Director was Henryk Majewski. This department quickly became a center for high-level jazz education, with a teaching staff that included such distinguished musicians as Zbigniew Namysłowski, Jan “Ptaszyn” Wróblewski, and Andrzej Trzaskowski.
As an educator, he has collaborated with the Krakow School of Jazz and has frequently taught at the International Summer Jazz Academy workshops, organized by this school and Webster University in St. Louis.
In 2009, Karim Martusewicz launched his own workshops for young people—“Karimski Club Workshop”—which laid the foundation for the creation of KARIMSKI MUSIC SCHOOL. Since 2022, he has been sharing his knowledge and experience with students at the Warsaw Film High School, continuing his educational and musical mission by blending various cultures and musical genres in his projects.
For years, he has remained one of the leading musicians on the Polish jazz-rock scene. In recent years, Karim has also gained recognition as a film music composer, contributing to such hits as “Too Old for Fairy Tales” Parts 1 and 2, and “The King of Life.” He is also the composer of the musical scores for many well-known television programs.
